Carolyn Ecker started Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento in 2003.  It has since grown from a small practice with just Carolyn to providing services across the Sacramento Area.

Carolyn Ecker

MOT OTR/L (Owner) Occupational Therapist

Carolyn graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CA with a Bachelor in Biology. She then earned her Master of Occupational Therapy from Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, CA. Since graduating in 1997, Carolyn has had experience in multiple settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, schools and home-based services. Her primary area of practice has been pediatrics for the last +16 years.

MOT OTR/L (Clinical Manager) Occupational Therapist & Feeding Therapist

Catherine graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CA with a Bachelor in Kinesiology and a minor in Child Development. In 2014, she received her Master of Occupational Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. Catherine has experience working with adults and children, but her passion is in working with young children and providing quality parent education and training. She has recently obtained the advance specialty of feeding therapy and loves helping children and their families learn to love mealtimes!

Sarah McMills

Sarah McMills

MOT OTR/L Occupational Therapist

Sarah graduated from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. She received both her Bachelor of Occupational Science and Master of Occupational Therapy. She moved to Sacramento from Athens, OH and Sarah started as an intern with Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento. Sarah is now a full-time therapist and she loves working with children and their families. She takes pride in providing personalized services to her clients.

Lisa Smith

COTA/L Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Lisa began her career as an educator, with a Bachelor in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Nebraska, and a Masters in Special Education from CSU Sacramento. After 15 years as a classroom teacher, she returned to school and completed the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Sacramento City College. Since then she has enjoyed providing occupational therapy to children in school-based settings.

Felicia Houston

COTA/L Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Felicia graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She continued her education at ASU and received her Associate in Occupational Therapy. Felicia has experience working with adults in skilled nursing facilities and has enjoyed providing school-based, home-based, and clinic pediatric services.

Lisa Marie Matthews

COTA/L Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Lisa Marie graduated from Sacramento City College, CA with an Associate of Science – Occupational Therapy Assistant, and a Preschool Teacher Certificate in Early Childhood Education from Folsom Lake College, CA. Lisa Marie has worked with children across varied environments for many years, and in the outpatient pediatric clinic setting since March 2020. Her passion for play-based, sensory-rich, child-centered therapy interventions with an emphasis on caregiver education & collaboration is evident in her interactions. She enjoys spending time with her family, in nature, being active and creative, and is a life-long learner!

Kelly Louney

MS, CCC-SLP Speech and Language Pathologist, Lead Speech Therapy Supervisor

Kelly graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology 2000. In 2003, she received her Master of Speech Pathology from California State University, Sacramento. Kelly has experience working with clients of all ages from early intervention to adulthood. She has a passion for clients on the autism spectrum, clients with challenging behaviors and supervision within her field.

Jennisah Garon

MS, CCC-SLP Speech and Language Pathologist

Jennisah graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 2013 and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2018. Jennisah has worked in the speech pathology field as an assistant for two years and now as a credentialed therapist. She has a passion for clients with pediatric feeding disorders and clients with challenging behaviors. She is excited to bring her school and clinic-based experience to the clients and families at Developmental Therapy Services.

MS, CCC-SLP Speech and Language Pathologist

Melissa received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree at CSU, Chico. Since, she has worked with the pediatric population in the clinical and public school settings. She enjoys providing quality intervention that focuses on the whole child as well as providing parent education to families. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, reading, and taking cycling classes. She looks forward to working with the families at Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento!

Katie Barbao

SLPA Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant

Katie graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor in Communication Sciences and Disorders while also teaching at a preschool. She graduated from a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program at Loma Linda University in California where she gained experience working with elementary and middle school children. Katie’s passion is working with infants and young children and she is excited to take part in helping families with Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento.

Aisha Mohammadi

SLPA Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant

Aisha graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2019. She then completed a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program at Loma Linda University in California. Aisha is passionate about increasing communication and literacy in children. She speaks 5 languages and hopes to create outreach and resources in underserved communities and multicultural populations. She has experience working with clients of all ages from early intervention to adulthood, and is excited to serve the clients and families of Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento.
